Yes that is a 1kg tub of Cashew Butter* you can see there. Crazy size right? If you are a nut butter lover like me sometimes the tiny tubs you get in Holland & Barrett just aren't enough. That's where Pro Bike Kit UK come in, not a website you will find me on usually but when I was contacted by My Protein they let me know of this little site. They sell all sorts of sports nutrition products including cashew and almond butter for reasonable prices. Cashew Butter is high in protein which means it is great for muscle recovery and is also full of B vitamins. Of course it is very high in calories like all nut butters but as it is so rich a little goes a long way!
I love dried fruit for snacks and also a little boost of energy before a workout. Most mornings I run on an empty stomach (fasted cardio) but if I am going for a slightly longer run I will eat a couple of pieces of dried fruit. It is a great natural sugar boost. The Dried Mango* and Super Berries* from myvitamins are great for making up little snacks for on the go. Typically I make up a handful of dried fruit in a bag and pop it in my lunch box to have mid morning. I also love dried apricots. The good thing about dried fruit is that it satisfy your sweet tooth and gives you energy.
When you are exercising a lot of training for a race it is important to make sure that your body is getting all the vitamins and minerals it needs. I was recently sent the True Women Sport multivitamins to try and I have been taking them on days when I feel like my vitamin intake needs an extra boost.
What is your favourite type of nut butter? I am yet to try almond butter. Also if you have any recipes where I can make use of this huge tub of cashew butter let me know in the comments!
I love healthy snacks!
