Throughout September I am excited to be creating a few recipes using some new products from Provamel who have launched a natural plant based alternative to yoghurt which is completely free from sugars. Now we are all aware that added sugar is bad for us and I am always checking labels for added sugars and sweeteners. Sweeteners are especially bad for us and should be avoided, unfortunately they can be found in many 'low fat' or 'diet' products which is aimed at people who want to be more healthy.
I am excited to get creative with Provamel during their 'No Sugars, No Limits' campaign. There are so many possibilities, yummy green smoothies are always a winner for me but you can also use it in breakfast recipes, desserts and dips. It's time to get creative! You can join in too by using #Provamel on instagram, twitter and facebook.
During my yoga teacher training I followed a plant based vegetarian diet with the odd piece of fish every now and then. I fell in love with this way of eating. My skin brightened, my energy levels were boosted and I felt amazing from the inside out. It might also have something to do with the sheer amount of yoga and meditation I immersed myself in! So I pledged to myself that I would stick to this new way of eating. I had slowly been moving in this direction throughout the year so it made sense to me. Here's a few interesting facts about organic plant-based foods which show how they can be a great option for your lifestyle.
Plant based foods ~
- Are naturally free from animal fats and low in saturated fats.
- Provide a source of fibre.
- Are naturally lactose-free.
- Contain essential fatty acids (found in most nuts).
- Are a source of high quality plant protein (found in soya).
- Are teaming with vitamins and antioxidants (found in fruits and vegetables).
Eating a plant based diet is also good for the planet. Plant based foods are far more sustainable for our valuable resources, all plant-based foods need less land, less water and generate fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to meat and dairy production.
So why not give it a go? Switch to a plant-based diet for a few days a week and see how you feel. You can join in with the Provamel 'No Sugars, No Limits' campaign throughout September. Get creative with your recipes!
I was kindly sent a package from Provamel and a fruit box from Abel and Cole for my use during this campaign ~ all views are my own honest opinion.
I'm really looking forward to seeing your recipes!
