Peanut Butter Lover

In a world filled with energy bars, protein powders and even supplements you can add to your water many people forget the goodness in real foods, such as peanut butter. Peanut butter is tasty, satisfying and good for your health. Yes it is calorie dense but it and other nut butters (I love almond butter) can be a part of your healthy diet, especially if you are training for a race and burning a lot of calories! I burned almost 600 calories before breakfast this morning during my half marathon training!

Peanut butter and nuts in general are high in protein and fibre which means that you will stay fuller for longer. To disperse a myth ~ it is not fattening! Unless you overeat of course. I love to toast a slice of multi grain, seeded wholemeal bread and top it with peanut butter after a run as a post workout breakfast. This gives you both the protein and carbs you need to recover from a high impact exercise but without over indulging.

The peanut butter* from Go Nutrition is made wholly from roasted peanuts crushed into a butter. There is no added salt, sugar or oil which is great. Many peanut butters have added palm oil. Which I always try to avoid due to the palm oil farmers tearing down forests which are the tigers natural habitat. The only thing I don't like is the packaging. It comes in a huge 1kg plastic tub which isn't practical for me as I like a nice glass jar for both storage and recycling purposes!

You can purchase a 1kg tub of peanut butter from Go Nutrition for £5.99.
