Fitness // Half Marathon Training Week Four

Happy Monday! I can't believe that I am already four weeks into my training, it is flying by and it's almost Christmas! We spent the weekend in Devon visiting family, it's always good to get away but it meant that in order to fit in my 7.5 mile planned run I had to dig deep and run some hills! it was hard work and a little boring running up and down but I got it in and that's what counts.

I have also been working on speed during my 5 mile treadmill runs. I find it easy to do a simple HIIT (high intensity interval training) routine to get my speed up by running fast for 2 minutes and then 2 minutes recovery ~ rinse and repeat! I have found that HIIT workouts are great for not only building fitness and speed but they are a great calorie burner too.

I also went out for a family run on Sunday morning with Matt and Elaine. I always find it fun and refreshing to run with others as so often it is a solo activity for me. There is something cleansing for both mind and body about running and chatting at the same time. A workout for the soul!

This week I am looking forward to getting back into my routine tomorrow and going to yoga class on Friday night! What are you looking forward to this week?
