Guest Post // My Christmas Wick List

Hi everyone. I’m Helena from The Edge of Beauty. Jayne was kind enough to let me guest post on her blog whilst she is sunning herself on holiday. So today I wanted to share my candle obsession with you.

I know this may be a bit early for some, but I just couldn’t help myself.  As soon as the shops start displaying Christmas products, I’m right in there with the best of the candle addicts, sniffing away and getting way to excited over the Christmas candle holders.

But why not?! Candle burning has always been a winter pleasure. I’m more of a spiced cinnamon-apple, frosted cookie-cupcake sort of a girl than a Jasmine or Freesia. Floral offenders generally give me a headache. They are imposters of the candle world, trying to muscle in on the greatness that is the holy Christmas Candle. Don’t they know that nothing can beat it! So step aside Rose Petal, this isn’t the place for you.

Having said all that, I’m proud to say that I left the shop with only one candle this week… and a list of about 5 others that I’ll be buying in the weeks to come. Today I wanted to share with you Christmas Cookie – the chosen one to kick off this year’s candle-burning season. Although named after Christmas, it’s a pretty neutral scent so it won’t offend anyone else who gets a whiff – they can put their jingling alarm bells away.

If you’re a fan of the year-round Vanilla Cupcake, I know you’re going to love this. It has that typical sweet batter smell that I fall for every time. Although, I think that the cupcake version is a lot stronger than this Christmas version. Even when I have it burning for hours on end, it never gets heady.

Speaking of burning it for hours, these candles last forever. The jar I have will last from 65-90 hours and melts incredibly evenly. The candle I was using before burnt down rather than out, whereas this Yankee Candle levels itself all the way so that you get a much more even burn.

This is why I can justify spending so much on a candle. Yankee Candles are simply the best of the best. The scents aren’t too overpowering and the quality of the wax is incredible.

Apart from Christmas Cookie, I’ve got my eye on Christmas Eve, Red Apple Wreath and Cranberry Ice - all of which are red. I figured that Christmas Cookie looked a lot more neutral and would look pretty burning at the back of my blog photos so that was definitely a deciding factor during the process of elimination.

Before I go, I just wanted to share with you some of my favourite candle accessories this year. I love these simple metal candleholders as they add an air of Christmas decoration to your room without you going full out and spending a fortune. They won’t break and can be used year on year. The middle one is made out of china, so therefore not quite as bouncy but still super cute. This way you can still see all of the candle and the pretty Christmas pictures on the label, which I’m a complete sucker for.

Anyway, that’s all from me for now. Thanks so much to Jayne for letting me guest post on her blog. It’s been so much fun! If you want to see some more reviews from me just pop over to my blog, The Edge of Beauty. I hope to see you there.

Helena xxo
