Today I thought that I would share with you a HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout which I tried for the first time on Saturday. If you don't know what a HIIT workout is basically it consists of a burst of high intensity activity combined with a short period of lower intensity, such as a run - sprint - walk. HIIT workouts are very demanding but they give great results and are perfect if you don't have much time on your hands to go for a longer run. The Booty Shorts workout from Tone It Up really gets your metabolism going and I felt so sore the next day that I knew it had done some good!
As I was running outdoors I did the run, sprint, walks first and then I did the toning exercises once I had got home. Out of interest I also used my Nike+ to track my run. So you can see on my route that the yellow is the running, green is the sprinting and red is the walking! I also reduced the last two walk sequences to 2 minutes as I recover quicker than the suggested 3 minutes. I will certainly be doing this again next week and as I now know it takes about 30 minutes I could fit this in before work.

DeleteI'm really trying to build up to doing some HIIT! I was going to this week but got struck with flu.. which always sets me back so damn much. Great post and great blog ! Keep going :)
