Fitness Update & What I've Been Eating

Instagram: jaynebecca

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you will have probably seen that I have started a new fitness routine. As you all know I am really into my fitness and healthy living -- I do believe that we need to look after ourselves and make the most of what we have! As I have now been following my new routine for about a month I thought I would give you an update on my progress.

I have been following the Tone It Up girls for a while and I kept meaning to give their workouts a go, however, I never seemed to get a round to it. When I saw that they had put up a Beach Week schedule on their blog I thought to myself -- 'You know what, why don't I just start this now? There is nothing stopping me!' So I set my alarm to wake me up at 6:50am the next morning and started with the routines they put up for Beach Week -- I have been hooked ever since! I must admit the first three days killed me, I worked muscles I had long forgotten about and I am by no means unfit.

By working out in the morning you set yourself up for the day. By getting your body moving and sweating you will burn more calories (and fat) throughout the day because an early morning workout boosts your metabolism. Sometimes it is difficult to find the time to workout -- especially if you are at work all day you don't really want to have to come home and go to the gym -- so by making time for exercise before you start your day ensures you get your workout in! The early starts are difficult at first but once you get into a routine it becomes second nature. I now crave my morning workouts!

I find it easier if I plan my workouts for the week using YouTube playlists -- here is a link to my YouTube channel if you are interested, you can view my playlists on there. Remember that 'if you prepare for a successful week you'll make things happen and reach your goals!' Since starting my new fitness routine I feel stronger, fitter and more toned. I have more energy and I am making healthier food choices too. But best of all - I have more confidence in myself.

I do instagram my food a lot -- don't we all! I have been trying to eat cleaner and make sure that I have plenty of fruit and vegetables in my fridge so that I can make healthy choices. We generally do our food shopping on a Monday night and plan meals for the week.

Here are a few meals I have been loving lately:

  • Carrot sticks & hummus
  • Healthy homemade Pad Thai
  • King Prawns with apricot or nectarines
  • Healthy pancakes
  • Greek yoghurt (0%) with fruit

I have also successfully given up Diet Coke (you can read my post Breaking The Diet Coke Addiction if you want to know more), been drinking more water and loving Naked bars for a healthy snack for work.

If you are looking to switch up your fitness routine I highly recommend the Tone It Up girls. By 'checking in' with your workouts on instagram, twitter or facebook you keep yourself accountable and there are also so many inspirational girls from all over the world following the routines and plan too!

I hope you all are having a great week!
