My second week of the Love Your Body challenge has been a great one. I feel stronger, fitter and leaner! I started the week with a bit of a sore lower back from all the running I did last week. I find the best way to get through this is lots of stretching and taking it a bit easier for a couple of days. If you suffer from an injury or soreness you must listen to your body, eat well and take it slow until you are happy that your body is well. On Wednesday I braved the cold, dark morning and went out for a run. This is a huge step for me as I really dislike running in the very early morning when it is still dark, so I was really pleased that I got this run in! I have been following the Tone It Up routines on the weekly schedule, although I switched around a few routines and modified the Secret Admirer workout for running only. It's great to have a schedule to follow as it keeps you accountable. I also love looking through everyone's check in photos on Instagram ~ you are all so inspiring! I see girls breaking records and getting stronger everyday.
Saturday was a big breakthrough for me. I broke THREE personal best times ~ 1 mile, 5 km and 10 km. I was super excited and felt really energised afterwards. If you want to have a giggle at my reaction at completing the Crush Cardio routine then have a look at my You Tube Vlogs :)
I have also been trying new recipes as well. Matt has been loving them also which is good! I had a question on Instagram about the cost of healthy foods so I thought I would share a few tips with you.
- If you are in the UK buy fruit and vegetables at Aldi. They have a great range of good quality fruit and vegetables available and they are very reasonably priced.
- Look out for offers! Places like Morrisons have offers on seasonal fruit all the time. Last week we picked up a huge punnet of cherries for £1 and apricots for £1. Very reasonable.
- Free range chicken can be pricey so switch it out for free range turkey instead. It is in fact leaner than chicken, just as tasty and cheaper!
- Invest in a water filter. If you buy bottled water it can be expensive. Instead invest in a Brita water jug, not only is it better for the environment it works out cheaper too! If you are on the go I recommend a Water Bobble which you can refill on your travels. I have a full review and information about the Water Bobble here.
Don't forget even small changes in your lifestyle can make a huge difference. You can find me on Instagram @jaynebecca where I post my daily photos and Tone It Up check ins.
Great post!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the lovely info. :)

No problem :) Thank you!
DeleteThe ginger and seasme chicken skewers look gorgeous. Congrats on beating lots of PBs on Saturday! Great news! I'm trying to get back into running now, I did it when I started to get fit 3 years ago and then discovered my classes and just spent all my time doing them instead but I've started again this year.
ReplyDeleteDo you know what I find the hardest about eating clean? That my bf is super skinny and eat what he wants, but is also super fussy. Foods must come with a sauce, it can't be dry at all. Meat must be chicken or gammon(gammon is the one meat I really don't like) he'll occasionally have lean mince beef but rarely. It's so hard to think of something clean for me that he will actually eat.
Pain in the butt.
xx
Thank you Shen! I agree eating clean with a boyfriend who can eat anything is hard, especially if you are cooking for both of you it is easier to do one dish. Luckily Matt likes trying new things and so far everything has been a hit! I do eat red meat just not all the time. Compromise and moderation are key for me :) x
